Sakramenti iscjeljenja, to jest sakrament pomirenja i bolesničkog pomazanja produžuju u vremenu tu Isusovu djelatnost.

dc.description.abstracten Starting from the appeal by Pope Benedict XVI in his Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini to »give due space to the proclamation and hearing of God’s word«, in the sacrament of reconciliation and anointing of the sick, the author firstly considers the reason for suffering and death in the sacred Scriptures and their meaning. This is followed with examples of various illnesses and healing of the sick in the Old Testament. In as much as the biblical man does not pose theoretical questions about the origin of evil or death, but primarily directs them to God, the author briefly presents various texts, or more precisely, prayers. Prayer directs to God the human expression of suffering and sorrow. God’s response, which always surpasses man’s pleas, comes in the New Testament in the embodiment of Jesus Christ who became man so that he could make man God. Christ returns man to his original state, to his »wholeness« which is best seen in the miracles of exorcism and healing which Jesus performs. The sacraments of healing, that is the sacrament of reconciliation and anointing of the sick extend in time Jesus' activity. In a brief presentation of these sacraments, the author enumerates passages from Sacred Scriptures which are offered in The Rite of reconciliation and penance and The Rite of anointing of the sick as »examples of readings«. He concludes that the »word of the Sacred Scriptures is not lacking in these sacraments« and demonstrates the fundamental faith in God’s strength and the effectiveness of these sacraments which are »visible signs of God’s presence«. uk
