dc.description.abstracten | In the last years, social work in Ukraine can be characterized as the time of dynamic changes due to transformational processes in society. Gradually, the practice of social work has begun to outpace science and requires updating the system of academic social work. Ukrainian cases in social sphere can become a common subject for international cooperation in research and developing a study process in Ukraine and also in foreign countries. Transformational processes in Ukraine can be considered in two concepts: changing attitudes to problems and responsibilities for their solution in the society (1), reformation changes in the socio-political sphere (2). The Revolution of Dignity (2013-2014) contributed to the rethinking of values, the development of self-organization and social responsibility, and the development of the volunteer activity. The ongoing war in Ukraine since 2014 has led to the emergence of specific social services for new categories of people in need (1 363 891 internally displaced people, 362 095 combatants and their families). At the same time, Government initiated a series of reforms of the decentralization, the institutional care system and the upbringing of children, inclusion in school education, etc. The flexibility of NGOs allows social workers to respond quickly to challenges and act in emergency situations. It also contributes them to increase the confidence of non-governmental and religious organizations in solving social problems. The increasing need for professional staff ready for the new environment, leads academic programs to be developed in accordance with the challenges of the social sphere. Active cooperation and involvement of social work practitioners in the educational process, students research works, projects and internship in NGOs and GOs shows a good results and gives a new cases for academic social work. The international dialogue and cooperation of scientists and practitioners from Canada and Ukraine can allow a deep scientific analysis and adaptation of case study to educational process. Exchange programs for university professors and students can be a great chance for a better understanding a context and adaptation of foreign experience to Ukrainian realities. | uk |
