dc.description.abstracten	Thorough analysis of a wide range of historiographic materials, some of which are introduced to the scientific community for the first time, proves unsustainability of the popularized in the works of Ukrainian author Il’ko Borshchak and Soviet historian Boris Abalikhin hypothesis according which Napoleon planed to retreat from Moscow to Ukraine. The utilisation of microhistorical methods of analysis and methods of mental mapping helped to clarify intentions of the French Emperor, and also to understand why and how rumors about a possible military advances of the Grand Army in the south-western direction were created and spread.	uk
